A Journey Rooted in Nature
Nestled on a working farm in North Cornwall, St Eval began over 28 years ago as a small family venture. Drawing inspiration directly from the wild countryside - its scents, landscapes, and rich biodiversity - their candles channel the Cornish coastline, meadows, and moorlands.
Nature-Inspired Fragrances
With over 30 fragrances available, the scents evoke vivid Cornish scenes - from the salty sea air of Sea Salt to the herbal freshness of Bay & Rosemary.
St Eval’s product range blends elegance, functionality, and sensory storytelling:
-
Tin Candles
Crafted sustainably with long burn times (~45 hours), these are available in scents like Lavender Fields - a calming, floral aroma - and Ginger & Lemongrass, an invigorating blend reflecting Cornish vitality. -
Tealights
Perfect for creating ambiance and featuring nature-inspired packaging. For example, Hawthorn & Berries tealights shimmer with a floral-forest scent and burn up to six hours per tealight. -
Pot Candles, Pillars, Diffusers, Hand Care
St Eval offers a full lifestyle range - from scented pillars and pots to reed diffusers and hand care products - each designed with the same commitment to quality and natural inspiration.
Handcrafted Heritage
St Eval honors traditional candle-making techniques. Their artisan methods include:
-
Drawing machines from the 1940s (and a locally crafted second one) that manually draw wicks through wax to precisely build pillar candles.
-
Moulding and pouring processes for creating multi-wick pillars, pots, tins, and tealights.
Every candle is cut, milled, and packed by hand, upholding quality and craftsmanship.
Sustainability at the Core
St Eval’s commitment to the planet is embedded in every aspect of their operations:
Green Energy Powerhouse
Their farm is a hub of renewable energy production:
-
The UK’s quietest wind turbine (installed in 2011)
-
Rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) panels (2013)
-
Biomass boilers (multiple added over time)
-
A water-to-air space heater, using their biomass-generated hot water to warm facilities.
These systems allow them to produce more energy than they consume—becoming a net exporter of clean energy.
Eco-Conscious Packaging & Circular Practices
St Eval has phased out single-use plastics, replacing them with recyclable alternatives like kraft packaging and bio-wrap for pillars and tealights.
